Your Guide To The Celebrations

Welcome Drinks

Thursday, December 11

Ease into the weekend with a relaxed evening of cocktails and conversation at Arcano, one of Mérida’s most enchanting hidden gems. Set in a restored colonial building in the heart of the city, Arcano’s candlelit courtyard and soaring stone arches create the perfect backdrop to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones.

This is an informal, come-as-you-are gathering—simply order what you like at the bar, and settle in for a night of laughter, good music, and the magic of Mérida after dark.

TIME: 8.00 PM
LOCATION: Arcano
ADDRESS: C. 20 104, Itzimná, 97100 Mérida, Yuc.

A Porfirio Díaz–Era Celebration

Friday, December 12

Join us as we step into the elegance of Mexico’s Porfiriato (1876–1911) — a time when Parisian fashion, French architecture, and Mexican artistry intertwined. Imagine a glamorous hacienda gathering at the turn of the century: sweeping skirts, lace blouses, embroidered shawls, tailored suits, pocket watches, and polished boots.

Ladies might channel the grace of La Belle Époque with flowing dresses, gloves, and fans; gentlemen in crisp suits, waistcoats, and bow ties.

The evening will be filled with old-world charm, live music, and a nod to the grandeur of Mexico’s golden age.

Come ready to raise a glass and dance like it’s 1899.

TIME: 8.00 PM
LOCATION: Restaurante Aguileño
ADDRESS: C. 60 por 53 y 55 No. 469, Parque Santa Lucia, Centro, 97000 Mérida, Yuc.

The Art of Us Wedding Day

Saturday, December 13

Come draped in color, bold and true,
In crimson flame or marigold hue.
Let fabric flow like whispered light,
In gowns that catch the breeze just right.
With sculpted sleeves and tulle that sways,
Adorn yourself in dreamlike ways.
Florals bloom on silk and skin,
A bow, a puff - let magic in.
For men, a suit of stone or sage,
Linen ease, a softened edge.
Open collars, loafers bare,
Dressed for warmth in Mérida’s air.
No black, no white- let color lead,
In every shade your spirit needs.
Let every thread and tailored line
Be gesture, rhythm, form, and sign.
Not black-tie rules, but style set free -
A canvas for your poetry.
Dress not to match, but to express,
This day of joy, of love, no less.
Arrive as art, as muse, as flame -
And let your soul adorn your name.

TIME: 4.00 PM
LOCATION: Hacienda Cuzumal
(transportation to be provided)
ADDRESS: 7812 Samahil, Yucatan

ARRIVAL DETAILS

Getting there

Fly into Mérida International Airport (MID) — the most convenient airport for the celebration. Several major U.S. cities offer direct flights. If yours doesn’t, you can easily connect through Mexico City, Houston, or Miami.

Upon arrival, either pre-arrange a transfer with your hotel or ground operator, or use the official taxi booth just outside customs. Tell the attendant your destination, pay the fixed fare, and give the ticket to your driver. (Avoid accepting rides from anyone outside the terminal.)

You can also fly into Cancún and either drive (about 3.5 hours) or let us arrange a private driver for a more relaxed trip.

ALL THINGS MERIDA

Mérida Tips

We can’t wait for you to discover Mérida. Wander freely, and start with a few of our favorites below. It’s a small, busy city—reserve in advance, particularly for dinner.

Safety
    •    Mérida is one of the safest cities in Mexico—feel free to explore on foot, especially in Centro & Paseo de Montejo. As always, use normal city smarts at night.

Money & Tipping
    •    Tipping: 15–20% at restaurants; $20–50 MXN per drink at bars (or 10–15%); $50–100 MXN per bag for porters; 10–15% for drivers/guides.
    •    Cards are widely accepted; keep some pesos for markets, taxis, and tips.
    •    ATMs: Use machines inside banks (Banamex, BBVA, HSBC) for best rates.

Getting Around
    •    Airport transfers: Pre-book with your hotel/operator, or use the official taxi booth outside customs (pay fixed fare, get ticket, hand to driver).
    •    Ride-hailing: Uber works well, but we suggest pre-booking as there can be wait times.
    •    Walking: Centro is walkable; wear comfy shoes and a hat.

ACCOMODATIONS

Please reserve accommodations at your earliest convenience. We have reserved room blocks at several of our favorite hotels.

REGISTRY

We are so grateful that you’ll be joining us to celebrate this special moment in our lives—your presence truly means the world to us, and that is all we could ever ask for.

While gifts are by no means expected, if you care to contribute, we would be deeply touched by contributions toward our honeymoon adventures or future home as we begin building our life together.

A LOVE STORY

Our story begins in Los Angeles, where our friend circles overlapped and we stood out in the best way—familiar strangers who colored outside the lines. Mitch was in a season of radical self-expression; Jess was planning a Malibu bachelorette and asking her favorite question: what would be different—and better?

A message arrived like a small golden key. Jess slid into Mitch’s DMs with a proposition that quietly rerouted our timelines: a professional dance performance for the party. Two simple promises followed. He would show up prepared, present, at his best. She would place her trust in that. He did; she did. The night was luminous in the way beginnings often are—no fireworks, just the feeling of a door opening. From the first moment, Jess invited Mitch beyond his comfort zone; Mitch answered by becoming a braver version of himself.

Then came the long pause of the pandemic—two lines drifting apart without losing their pull. Jess made a home in Mexico City. Mitch built a life in New York. Years later, for his birthday, he followed the thread back to CDMX and to Jessica Manley—still officially an acquaintance, unofficially an unfinished sentence.

Across two weeks, Jess—effortless mapmaker and generous hostess—introduced him to at least fifteen extraordinary people, to courtyards and cafés and conversations that felt like home. The city’s cadence matched the beat of his chest. No grand decision was needed. He simply didn’t leave.

Only then did we notice the quiet symmetry underneath: two Arizonans—she from Phoenix, he from Tucson—who never met in the desert that shaped us, finding each other farther south. We were always desert people at heart: drawn to wide horizons, honest light, and the kind of growth that happens without fanfare. In us, unspoken growth turned to intimacy; accountability became the steady fuel for a life long desired.

What followed was the slow, certain work of a conscious relationship. We agreed early that love isn’t the absence of friction but the practice of transformation. Across languages and neighborhoods and new rituals, we learned and unlearned. We told the truth, revised old stories, and chose each other again. Where one of us hesitated, the other held the door. Where one was brave, the other kept pace. Growth became our shared vow.

Now, three and a half years later, we welcome you to celebrate in our new home country. Mérida, Yucatán is where the next page opens—sun-washed stone, open doors, and a promise that has carried us from Los Angeles to here: to keep saying yes to resonance, to expansion, and to the everyday magic of becoming a “we.”
